What was the Elephant's Lug?
It was a bloody great Bridie (a meat filled pastry) the size and shape of an Elephant's Ear (or Lug). It was popular in the Forfar area in the '20's and '30's when it would be sold from Baker's Vans to all the local farm bothies (where unmarried farm workers lived). It was reputed to feed three ploughmen.
