What have we been up to lately..?

23rd December 2006…

Season's greeting to you all…we've had a ball lately…between Dundee and Forfar, we're hoping the Forfar Blues and Bridie Festival will be happening again next year.....we're marking the festive season with a couple of gigs...Friday the 29th of December will see us returning to the wonderful Aikman's Cellar Bar in St Andrews, Sunday December 31st sees us bring the new year in at the wonderful Balmacarra Hotel in beautiful Kintail in the north-west highlands….Maybe see you there…? Have a good time wherever you go…!!

 

16th November 2006…

Well…well…well..things are moving along…had a spot at the inaugural Aberdeen Blues Festival in September…support slot for PapaMojo at Dexter's in Dundee in October…Upcoming gigs include the Forfar Blues and Bridie Festival on the 2nd of December…we're actively seeking sponsorship from McClaren's Bridie makers..!! The new three track demo is available after a fruitful session in the studio…looking good..hope to see you all soon…

 

31st August 2006…

It's getting on in the year…The "old" version of the Bourach Brothers closed its account with a final gig at the Dundee Blues Bonanza…Paul Tasker has moved to Glasgow and to great things..The "new" version of the duo opened its doors to the blues-loving public with a well-received set at the Johnshaven Fish Festival…Welcome Rod Mcdermid..!! Rod and Sandy formerly played in down-home rockers The Juke Joint Rollers..and have taken the Bourach Brothers into a more electric direction...watch out for a triumphant return to old haunts..and new ones..!!

5th January 2006 …

Another year..another fistful of dollars…highlights of the year include…playing at the Katrina Benefit in Aberdeen, Sandy finally getting an electric band together, the annual trek to the Highlands..Paul going back to Uni in Glasgow…we're going to be a bit more discriminating about gigs in the future..but we're both looking forward to the show in Aikman's Cellar Bar in St Andrews on February 4th...that's a great wee room and a smashing crowd…

30th May 2005…

Hey hey, hey…(as they say in Finnish..) It's been another month of contrasts..Our gig in the Queen Vic turned into a blues Harp summit with contributions from the great Spider MacKenzie and the fabulous Caroline Kemp..Had a fine old weekend up north in Portmahomack..(thanks to sheena & woody for looking after us..) and a new venue for us at the Balmacarra Hotel…a fine place to play…Sandy has started playing customised harmonicas set up by Little Al Price..and he's a very happy Harp player…

30th April 2005…

Well, well, well….(as the RL Burnside record goes..) It's been a busy old month on the Bourach Brothers front…We had a grand gig in Motherwell at the Eagle Inn, good to run into some old pals from the Uddingston folk Club…Take a bow Sheena and Debbie..We've been doing a few more spots at upmarket eatery the Cock & Bull in Balmedie..great food there...thanks to Morag and her staff..We played Aikman's Cellar Bar in St Andrews again and had a great time..it's a really good venue folks, get along there soon and catch some great bands..We're rounding off April and spinning into May with a gig at the Queen Vic in Aberdeen's Rosemount and a benefit spot in O'Henry's Nightclub in Aberdeen for a Pride Aberdeen fundraising event…we're delighted to be asked to participate in this event..and encourage all our fans straight and gay to attend..!!

4th April 2005…

It's been all go lately….been hitting the Queen Vic and Drummond's again and another well-received set in the Globe in Aberdeen…We're about to spread our wings a bit further afield with a date in the Eagle Inn in Motherwell on Saturday 9th April…Thanks to Tom Rannachan…Another date is fixed for Aikman's in St Andrews on the 29th April…and more good food and fine wines at the Cock & Bull…You know you want to…!! With all this sunny weather coming up, it only reminds us of the upcoming highland tours…

21st February 2005…

We've been busy in February with a very well received date at Aikman's Cellar Bar in St Andrews…thanks to Barbara Ritchie for booking us and all our Fife pals who came along and made the night the great success it was…

We had a good night in the Queen Vic in Aberdeen, not normally thought of as a Blues venue, the regulars were good to us..!

We've also lined up a few more knife and fork slots at the Cock & Bull in Balmedie..this is a really great place to eat folks…book a table and mosey on down…!

21st January 2005...

We kicked off the New Year with a couple of gigs in Aberdeen...at the Globe and The Malt Mill...Paul has been featuring in Celtic Connections with one of his other outfits...SAL..who won a Danny Kyle Award last year...The new SAL Album "Red Book Recording" is out now...

Spotted at our gig in the Globe was Billy "Blindman" Allardyce...mine host of "The Blindmans's Blues Forum" - Quite possibly the best Blues forum on the planet...

We're continuing with gigs at Drummond's in Aberdeen on the 23rd and the Queen Vic on the 12th February...News just in of a gig at the popular Aikman's Cellar Bar in St Andrews on the 19th of February...Be good to see you there...!!

20th December 2004...

Just back from a successful three date Highland Tour...Old Inn, Gairloch on Friday..Market Bar, Inverness on Saturday and the Caley Hotel, Portmahomack on Sunday...Thanks to Kitty and the Crew at The Old Inn, Shirley and staff at The Market Bar and Sheena and Hendry at the Caley for looking after us...

Special mention to Fife Fans Viv and Cara for making the trip to Inverness to see us...we hope to have some of Viv's photos of the gig up on the site soon...

Lots of gigs coming up in the New Year...The Globe and the Malt Mill in Aberdeen on the 6th and the 9th of January 2005 respectively...would be really good to see you all there...
